Common CarMD Questions

How Does CarMD Connect To My Vehicle?

►  Every 1996 and newer vehicle sold in the United States has a standard plug usually found on the drivers side.  The technical name for this connector is the OBD2 Data Link Connector or DLC, but we can call it the CarMD Connector.  This is the same plug mechanics use to access your vehicle’s on-board computer whenever you go in for service.  The 16-pin connector is always located inside the front dashboard of your vehicle.  The connector looks like this:

►  There are nine standard places where it may be located.  The location varies by year, make and model, with the most common locations just under the steering column by the driver’s knee.

►  The head of the CarMD handheld tester is designed to easily plug into the CarMD (DLC) Connector.  There is only one correct way to plug in the device.  Please note that on some vehicles the connector is upside down, so your tool's screen my be facing down.  Simply follow the instructions to complete the test.
