Below are the minimum hardware and operating system requirements for all handheld tools.

The CarMD® Runtime software has been tested to meet all of the technical requirements to be Compatible with Windows® 7. In addition, this software is also compatible with Windows Vista and XP-based operating systems. The CarMD software is the link between your CarMD Tester, your vehicle, and the CarMD diagnostic database. It is recommended that all current CarMD users download and install the latest release version.

Windows® XP / Windows® Vista (32/64 bit editions) / Windows® 7 (32/64 bit editions)

Minimum Hardware Requirements:
  • 50 MB of free hard disk space
  • 128 MB RAM
  • Pentium processor or better
  • 1 USB port (preferably 2.0)

Other Requirements:
  • Internet connection
  • Internet Explorer 5.5, Netscape 7.0 or Firefox 2.0 or newer browser

CarMD now offers a version for Apple® Mac OS X system users as described below. This software is the essential link between your CarMD Tester, your vehicle, and the CarMD® diagnostic database. It is recommended that all current CarMD users download and install this version.

Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.4 and newer) / Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.x) / Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.x) / Mac OS X Lion (10.7.x)

Minimum Hardware Requirements:
  • 100 MB free disk space
  • 256 MB of RAM
  • Intel, PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor running at 700 MHz or more
  • 1 USB port

  • Safari 3.0, Netscape 7.2 or Firefox 3.0 or newer browser
